Help with engine ID and power tilt/trim

Hi all! First post here and I hope it's in the right spot. If not, please let me know where it should go.

I'v had this engine for a year now and would really like to get some more detailed info about it. I'd also like to figure out if I can make the power tilt/trim work again. The engine had just had a major service ($800) done before I got it and it runs perfectly. They upgraded the ignition and went through the whole lower end as well as a cleaning and adjusting of the carb.

I have a few questions.

1. I believe the engine is a 1967 based off the 100783A model number on it. Can anyone confirm that?

2. I have talked to a few people and they have said that these engines did not come with power tilt/trim. That would seem accurate to me because of how shoddy the wiring is for it. Can anyone help in telling me where I could get the parts to rebuild the power trim/tilt? Even help on telling me where it came from would be awesome. There is obviously some parts missing. This is a beast of a motor to lift by hand for me. There is no way that my wife could do it.

3. The tach is not working at all. It sits at about 1k rpm with the engine running. Only varying slightly with the actual engine speed. It would seem that the tach and the new ignition are not compatible. Any ideas on how to check that?

4. How can I run this engine safely with it out of the water?

100783A = 1967 100hp Evinrude.

You are correct that the engine was not equipped with/for a PTT assembly. I have no idea what that is on there, another member will no doubt know what to tell you about that hydraulic item.

Run out of the water?..... Buy a good size plastic trash can. Be sure the water is always about 3 or 4 inches above where the lower unit joints onto the long exhaust housing (water pump area).

Tachometer operates off of the charging system. When key is turned to ON, reading should drop to zero. If not, check to see if 12v exists at Purple wire of tach or (+) terrminal of tach. Check rectifier as follows.

Remove the rectifier wires from the terminal block. Using a ohm meter, connect the black lead of the ohm meter to the rectifier base (ground), then one by one, connect the red lead of the ohm meter to the yellow, yellow/gray, then the red wire (some rectifiers may also have a fourth yellow/blue wire. If so connect to that also). Now, reverse the ohm meter leads and check those same wires again. You should get a reading in one direction, and none at all in the other direction.

Now, connect the black lead of the ohm meter to the red wire. One by one, connect the red lead of the ohm meter to the yellow, yellow/gray, and if present, the yellow/blue wire. Then reverse the leads, checking the wires again. Once more, you should get a reading in one direction and none in the other.

Note that the reading obtained from the red rectifier wire will be lower then what is obtained from the other wires.

Any deviation from the "Reading", "No Reading" as above indicates a faulty rectifier. Note that a rectifier will not tolerate reverse polarity. Simply touching the battery with the cables in the reverse order or hooking up a battery charger backwards will blow the diodes in the rectifier assy immediately.

Hopefully someone can tell me more about the ptt unit. I'd really like to get it working again.
