I hadn't seen this before, and I wasn't even aware of this capability. Was this a goal of the original design? Pretty cool :)

What's the thing hanging down in the middle? Skid plate? For what?

Its the muffler - wouldn't normally be routed that way;)

I thought muffler, but it didn't come out with the engine and tranny assembly.

I have seen contests doing essentially the same thing with beetles. Don't remember the timing.

At the end of the dissassembly part of the vid you can see the end that attaches to the exhaust manifold. Looks like they attached the pipe under the trans crossmember

LOL - There is no radiator in the jeep, but that F-head will put up with a lot - I suspect that they just looped the lines are are running with what fits in the block and hoses. Obviously no brakes, you can see him stop it with the gears - but in low range 1st gear is like brakes. Only need a couple wires to run that motor.

Here's a closer view of one that used to hold down the floor in my garage - damn hard to kill.

I kind of agree. Radiator is one of the first things out, just after hood. I was thinking coolant too.

... that's a pretty common Saturday night in Detroit. About 3AM in Rouge Park when I was growing up.

8 guys times 4 minutes each = 32 minutes. Took me 32 weeks to do mine.

You would have in Korea between 1950 and 1953 :D

From a utility and technology standpoint especially in their day, those jeeps were pretty amazing rigs.

Seems like there might have been some pre-rigging going on there. It would be interesting to see how long that bad boy would hold together on a rough road at speed.

Bravo! Very cool staged show, nothing more. I'm sure they welded tabs and had quick release fittings everywhere. Probably only running 3 lugs as well. Possibly still had the emergency brake. It looked like the ignition switch was probably mounted on the back of the motor as he had to reach way down to start it, probably through a big hole in the front of the body below the dash.
