1989 omc cobra 5.8 litre engine, I have read this site for years but posting now for the first time.. The boat mentioned has always ran great but developed a bit of a stiff shifting problem from drive back to neutral which turned out to be the shifter cable from the controller to the engine assembly.. I took the boat out the weekend before the new shifter cable was due to be installed and well coming across the lake at 3/4 throttle it felt like it slipped into neutral I pulled back on the throttle to bring it back to an idle but then the boat would neither go into forward or reverse ( still runs great ).. The shifter cable has been changed now but this new problem still exists, everything I've read seems to point to the shift module but unfortunately dont know how to test that theory or know a lot about it, any ideas where i could start looking for a solution .. ?
