4 blade 19x14.25 not doing it for me.

Well a while back I purchased a Solas Amita 4 blade 19px14.25 prop coming from my 3 blade 23p prop on my 1998 mercruiser 4.3. The prop made a huge difference in out of the hole but I don't like the fact that I run pretty much redline to get the boat up to 36mph and when cornering it can overrev like y'all said. My question is can I go to a 4 blade 21" prop and make a somewhat difference in the boat while still maintaining my revs? I know it's technically only 1 step from a 23p 3 blade but the 19p just makes me nervous having to run 4500 just to get 36mph. if the 21p wouldn't make a difference is there any other options to step up from the 23p buy not as agressive as the 19p amita?

As you now know, a decrease in 4" of pitch was too much and you should have gone with the 21P. The Amita 4 is typical of a 4-blade prop, and many other brands will yield the same results.

When switching to a 4 blade, it is generally recommended to drop one inch of pitch, or whatever next lower size is available.

The next lower(pitch) size is a 21 from Solas.

Ok, so a 21p 4 blade should be the intermediate?

As stated it is usually recommended to drop one inch in pitch when going to a 4 blade. If your 23 was performing correctly but for hole shot then it would be normal to go to a 22,to maintain rpm and some of the speed.Probably hard to find and a more limited selection.
The 21 should work but probably won't be ideal for rpm and speed.

I'm not so much worried about top speed, I'm more worried about how easily the boat will over rev. Will the boat still overrev as easily with the 21p?

What about. 21p 3 blade? Will that add performance from the 23p but maintain the revs easier? I'm just looking for a good compromise between cruising/skiing and having pulling power?

Rule of thumb 200 rpm per inch of pitch. !9 to 21 could lower rpm about 400.
A 3 blade 21 may temper that some.
Prop selection isn't cut and dried The 21 4 blade should retain the 4 blade characteristics
lower rpm and may increase speed.

Ok so looking at the 4 blade 21p I would go with the Solas amita 21x14" 4 blade?
