I have a 76 johnson 35 hp that will not start. I have replaced one coil, both condensors and points, both spark plugs, put in a new head gasket that was blown. I cannot get it to start at all. I have great spark at both plugs, and i have to gap set at .030 and the points set at .20. Any suggestions? please

Squirt some premix fuel in the throat of the carb and see what happens.

Since you have already proven that it is not getting fuel why don't you take the carb off and give it a good cleaning. Make sure you run a small wire through the orafices and jets and spray them out good with carb cleaner and compressed air. I am betting that the problem will be solved.

Did you remove the welch plug on top of the carb and clean out the idle circuit beneath it?

Did the round gasket in the center of the float bowl get replaced?

Sounds like you have to go through the carb again and make sure the choke is working properly.

Have you done a compression test since you changed the head gasket?

You say that you have an electric choke. Is it the canister type with the spring that activates the plunger? If it is your manual choke can still be on as the linkage can get pushed down when reassembling the air silencer. If it has been converted to the black primer solenoid make sure the red lever is pointing the right way.
