have a 90hp suzuki 2stroke dt 1990, was out yesteray and while the motor was running a bag hit on the main batterie switch , for a while it turned it so it was working intemittently, but we hadn't ralised what was happen, later the motor died and we fond out the mains was badly connected. turned it on, mototr turns over, but refuses to start.
Any ideas? Did we grill something by cutting out the batterie or havng it connected intermittently for a while?

Intermittent connections to a battery will cause the engines alternator to spike very high voltages and destroy electronic and capacitive type ignition systems. Most likely this is what has happened. Break out your pocket book, this ones gonna cost you. Buying used is a crap shoot. You either get a good one and it works or you get a bad one and refuse to believe it so you spend a ton more money fixing stuff that isn't broke. If you have the right test equipment you can be sure of the cause but if you don't your best bet would be to take it in for repair. Throwing parts at it based on an iBoats forum posters diagnosis is not a good idea. Most of the time we're dead on the money but sometimes were not so get a first hand, second opinion from a reputable repair shop in your area. That, I will guarantee, is good advice.
