1993 9.9 johnson throttle handle adjustment

Is there any way to adjust friction on handle ? The handle seems to free and i cannot set trolling speed without it changing. Any information would be greatly appreciated

are you using the idle adjustment knob at the end of the tiller handle?...you may have to adjust the throttle cable tension some if it has stretched, the idle adjustment knob pulls or pushes the cable in small amounts to set the idle speed you want

The idle adj. Knob seems fine. The problem is when i increse the speed for trolling the handle does not stay in that position. Does not hold speed that i want. Seems like the handle moves to easily
