Not sure if this is the correct area for this question... if not please redirect me. Wondering what length of shaft I should have for my boat. I measure 24" from the top of my bow to the water, this is calm water.

Thanks,
Nick

Re: Bow Mount Trolling Motor

What you want to know is what can it do when you really need it.....in rough water. I don't think you can ever get the shaft too long if you boat in open water. The length IS adjustable so if you are in shallow calm water raise it up. But when you are in open water and maybe on the windward side of rip-rap, and your main engine dies, you can power yourself out to safety!!!

Thanks, I am looking at a 60" 74lb thrust. I thought maybe it was too long... I guess not.

It can never be too long......as I said, that is what the height adjustment nut is for. Enjoy.
