1986 90hp outboard wont start

I have a 1986 90hp mercury outboard bought boat from auction. Each cylider tested at 150 have paper work of test. It is an inline 6. there was aboat a 1/4 tank of gas and is still registered till 3/2013. I tried to start sounds like it wants to start then back fires. It stops the I try again and the same thing happens. So close to starting cant get over the hump what to do?

Try fresh gas and do a sync/link. This could easily be timing is off.

Buddy, Choke the crap out of it. You will not flood it. Make sure the cold start lever is all the way up, Pump the primer firm, hold the choke button and crank until she fires.
