I have a SeaRay 230 Signature with a large vinyl sundeck in it. The seams in the sundeck are ripping out, probably due to the fact that most people step on the sundeck to board the boat.
I am thinking about redoing the sundeck with a walk-thru area, maybe by using a removable cushion that could be fastened down with marine grade velcro.
Anyone have any thoughts OR ideas on this?

Thank you.

Re: Ripped sundeck seam repair.

As an upholsterer, I urge you to stay away from Velcro. The heat makes it gummy, every bit of lint and dirt gets in it and makes it useless. Use twist-lock fasteners, Lift-the-dot fasteners, snaps, D-rings....anything but velcro. The preferred method is to have an upholstery shop put in a small section of vinyl track/extruded welt and hidden snaps under the cushion. Everything is near invisable and the cushions can't fly away in the breeze.

in the meantime, take your cushion to a local shop and get it resewn. Minimal cost and it will carry you through until you make any changes.
