Thought this would maybe come in handy to some. After faithfully replacing the plastic Float Chambers, on my 20th JohnyRude this season . I mistakenly ordered 2 Jes and not 4 ! This customer was wanting her boat back for a birthday party . Sooo I thought.... why cant I tap the jet holes 1/4-20 and install the originals? Turns out the holes
are already drilled .201, which is a #7 Drill size, which is the tap drill for 1/4-20!
Started out with a taper tap, then finished with a bottom tap.
Caution! These bowls are actually Zinc Casting Alloy, so lots of oil and reversing to break the chip is necessary,
A light touch as youn neear the bottom to prevent damage to the shoulder that the jet seats against is recommended.
The Jet is recessed within .050 of the plastic bowl location. AND you can still use the 8/32 jets down the road.
Because no drilling is necessary. Hope this helps some of you.
