Re: help wiring jvc kd-ar860 to sub and amp

There is a difference between what will work and a correct installation. Hooking up and installing are two completely different animals. Which are your trying to accomplish?

If its a little 50wx4 stereo 16 AWG should be fine for the power wire feeding the stereo. This wire should be fused at the battery side with a 10 amp fuse. The stereo itself should have a smaller fuse holder that contains the specific size to protect the stereo itself.

Amps and subs.... Your on your own, real marine stuff is expensive, even the cheap stuff is expensive compared to automotive. That's because its marinzed to hold up better in the extreme marine environment. That said even the cheap marine stuff doesn't last too long.

If you use automotive components expect them to not last more than a couple of seasons IF well taken care of.

Hope this helps!
