i was just thinking i know that its recommended to use the correct plugs , but what if i put a hotter plug in & set the timing to 0- degrees tdc as apposed to 4 - 6 degrees on some motors with the recommended plug surely by doing this it will not have any pre detonation thus eliminating pre detonation which causes over heat & should start easier . bearing in mind that i will have to retard the wot timing too to how ever many degree i move to 0 degrees

I don't remember...

hotter plug = more timing

or

colder plug = more timing

If you have predetonation, I think you need to go to a colder plug ot retard the timing, not advance. IMO, you shouldn't be messing with plug heat unless you are performance tuning the motor...and unless you're on a dyno I don't think you will see much change.

How about telling us the make, model, and year motor first ??????
