96 4.3 mercrusier engine knocking

eng bilge filled full of water during heavey rainstorm watermay have got into engine was hard to start but finally did sounds like a valve knock should i change oil first before going deeper into eng

Should of changed oil before starting,damage may be done by you running engine with water in the oil,if that is the case.The answer will be for you to see if it comes out looking like a milkshake,which you might also notice on the dipstick that might read high if it took in a lot of water.You may want to post in the mercruiser forum instead of the mercury forum as well,good luck.

i moved it... and yes...look at the oil... if its milky... then change it... but it is unlikely that water got in there from a rain storm....
