I have a 2001 38-foot Sea Ray Sundancer with twin 454 Mercruisers. I recently refueled and the starboard engine used 50 gallons whereas the port engine only used 40 gallons. I did not use the generator at all between fuelings. I'm also having to add about 6 ounces of anti-freeze to the starboard engine every five hours or so.

Your thoughts on the subject are greatly appreciated.

Thank you.

Re: Variation In Fuel Consumption

I am no expert at all but it may be normal for the engines to consume differnt amounts, but it is not normal to have to replace antifreeze in those amounts. You have one engine running hot, this may account for the fuel consumption. An engine that is not properly cooled can not perform at its best. Take it in to the dealer and have the cooling system looked over, if there is a problem it may be very easy or hard, but you want the two as close to the same as you can. GOOD LUCK.
