i have inherited a boat, has a johnson super sea horse 35 hp. the boat has not been in the water for 10 years i have changed fuel lines and cleaned it up the plugs are very clean. it will sputter but not idle. on the carb there is 2 adjustments for rich lean, 1 is a screw/turn pin, the other is attached to a lever. i'm not sure where to start. i am running 32:1, and i am not sure what the plug gap is suppose to be.
please advise.

24:1 on the fuel mix. 32:1 won't hurt it, but 24:1 is recemended. Top screw (low speed) sets at 1 1/2 turns out from lightly seated and bottom screw (high speed) sets at 3/4 turn out.

You will want to replace the water pump impeller and thermostat on that motor, as well. Check the lower unit oil for water intrusion.
