Water muffs or trash can?

I'm ready to start/run my Hurricane Deckboats Yamaha YEMS 4.3 V-6/sterndrive..Should I use water-muffs or trash can of water? I read somewhere that watermuffs are not good to use on outdrives..may be mistaken,but I'm a newbie to I/O boats..thoughts?..Thanks in advance.

Muffs are fine with a good stream of water. The motor should only be run at an idle or high idle at most and the drive should be in the down position.
