Hi,

On my 84 Evinrude 25 2 stroke I have taken the plate off where you disconnet the linkage thing to be able to drop the lower unit, it is held on by 2 flat head screws on the stbd side of the engine half way up, the Gasket is a little worse for wear, can I use liquid gasket, or cut my own out, or is there a name for it I could search the part?

Many thanks.

Re: Gasket question.

I might dab a little liquid gasket on the old gasket and use it. That plate is just a cover to get access to the shift rod. The inner cavity has water in it. You could run the boat without it.

Re: Gasket question.

Exactly. Anything that might leak out of there is headed for discharge out the underwater exhaust anyway. Of course it would be a tad noisy without it.
