do i need a carby kit

i have a 4.5 hp johnson seahorse that i can get to start by putting fuel in the carby but won,t keep running unless i keep
spraying it in . Will putting a carby kit in it work or could it be something else

If pumping the primer bulb does not help it to stay running, then it is probably the carb.
