was thinking, and anyway some sort of elastic mechanism could be attached to non power steering system to help remove lowspeed wandering and returning steering wheel to center? what would be the dangers of this or possible problems?

something like this, though a bad example

here is a crude, to say the least, drawing of what im thinking

what kind of problems would the constant tension cause, even if light when centered? any other complications besides chance that one snaps and pulls one way?

do not be afraid to tell me this is a dumb idea

Ayuh,.... Boats don't use a return to center like a car, 'n it'd do nothin' to help low speed wander...

Yer thinkin' to hard on a Non-problem.... just learn how to drive yer boat....
