1990 Bayliner Capri 2050CX
Mercruiser 3.0 L Alpha One
First, this is my first real boat, which I have only owned for about a month. All worked fine up until yesterday. Loaded her in the water...went to lower the unit in the water and all I heard was a "click" tried both up and down only heard "click for both. So I panicked for about 20 minutes then whacked the powertrim motor with a wrench..... and it worked. It worked fine all day although it did sound under strain sometimes in up and down functions....sometimes in either up or down it would sound stained then sound normal half way through.
Today, I went to investigate the problem. same thing sometimes it would only click (Oh..when it did click I jumped out and gave the lower a pull and push, then jumped back in and it would work. Sometimes it would run normal, sometimes it would sound strained then it would sound normal in the same cycle...I disconnected the ground wires and cleaned them up for a good conection but didn't help.....Also verified the reservoir was full....
I read a whole bunch of posts, and trouble shooting articles that people on here posted, but they all pointed at one thing or the other? I seem to be having multiple symptoms....Iunderstand i should troubleshoot each symptom but anyone have any place I should start rather than another providing the details i have explained???
Thanks in advance...
