1981 25hp Johnson
J = Johnson
25 = hp
BA = AC lighting circuit, Rope start
L = 20 inch shaft
CI = 1981
M = model run M (means nothing really)

Post ser#.
Your right TX but that mod# wont come up on dealer port. The B's don't come up till 96.

Just get the part # off the power pack that's on the engine now. As in part #581927. or do you have a under the fly-wheel cdi.

I notice you are in UK. When searching for parts, are you looking in UK dealers? That motor probably was only sold in the European / UK markets, explaining why you can't find anything on it in USA.

Re: calling all johnson gurus

Unloaded the voltage may measure 20 - 25 volts or so. Make/purchase a rectifier and it can charge a battery at between 12.6 and as high as 16 - 17 volts at wide open throttle. The issue with a small motor is that they also have small alternators so the amount of "current" (amperage) they output makes it questionable as to whether or not it will serve a useful purpose as a charger. AC can be used for lighting so no rectifier is required. It cannot be used for battery charging without the rectifier.
