Engine would not start...

Hey folks,
We have a 1990 chriscraft with omc 4.3L engine that would not start tonight. Fellow would crank and crank but would not catch. NExt problem, no power period, no horn no lights, nata. Not being mechanically inclined, what on earth may have happened? I seriously doubt the battery drained that fast, 10x tried to start.
Confused and a bit embarrased while people watched and offered NO HELP.

Thanks
Bill

Re: Engine would not start...

Check all your cable connections, and as for the starting, there is a wire that runs from your starter sulonoid to the coil, to provide 12 volts for starting. To test this, run a jumper wire from the battery to the positive side of the coil, just for starting. Also, make sure your choke is working, and maby check your carb jets, to make sure they are not clogged. Oh, and check your fuel water separator. Best place to start, is to tell what type of problem this is. (i.e. fuel, or ignition, or something else)
