150 Merc wiring (7- pin to a late model 8 pin power cable)

Here is another break down of the wires from my 1999 4 stroke to the 1975-76 2 stroke.

7-pin 2 stroke : red , yellow , grey , cream , pink , brown , black


8-pin 4 stroke : yellow/red stripe, yellow/black stripe, red, black, grey, purple, tan/blue stripe, black/yellow stripe



I want to splice the seven pin onto the 8 pin power cable if possible....???? what wires from the 7 pin coincide with the ones from the 8 pin...????

My previous post was hard to read, all the wire colors I listed got clumped together, sorry.........

OK, Easy. old motor to new controls; Red to red for +12VDC; black to black for ground; Yellow to yellow/red for starter solenoid; Grey to yellow/black for choke; cream (actually white) to purple for ign accessory; pink (actually salmon) to Black/yellow for ign killer; brown to grey for tach signal; Tan/blue is likely oveheat or some other feature the old motor does not have.

Hi guys. I am new to owning my own boat. I have recently bought a 1991 Astro 18f&s with a Mercury Black Max 150. I am looking for any help on do it yourself maintenance (impeller,fuel fillter, oil filter) and any knowledge anyone has about it.
