Trim won't go up!

I have a mercruiser alpha one gen 2, my trim just will not go up using either the up button or trailer up. I jumped the up solenoid and it will go up no problem. Assumed the solenoid was the issue so I replaced it, still nothing but will go up if I jump it or down no problem? Any ideas what my next step in trouble shooting should be?

Go to the stern and locate the black wire going into a connector with two blue white wires. Unplug the black wire and with a voltmeter (red + in the connector black - to ground) hit the trailer switch. +12 volts and your problem is in the wiring between there and the solenoid. Nothing and the problem is likely in the control handle. Chances are you are not getting 12V to the up switches. Check the 20A fuse.

Re: Trim won't go up!

You will see a 3 wire connector plugging in at the pump. The Red/Purple wire is the hot + going up to your switches. The Green/White wire is the Down coming back from the down switch and the Blue/White is the Up coming back from the switches. First I would check that you have voltage going To the switches (Red/Purple wire). Does the down work? If so then you would have voltage going to the switches. The trailer up is a Blue/White wire that comes directly from the trailer switch to the pump and the trim up switch has a purple/white wire coming from the trim up switch to a limit switch and from there connects to the Blue/White UP wire to the pump. When holding the trailer switch the Blue/White should be hot and when holding the down switch the Green/White should be hot. When holding the trim up switch the Blue/White should be hot as long as the drive has not risen to the point where the limit switch opens.

Re: Trim won't go up!

Thanks for the help, it was a wire going from the up and trailer up buttons inside the switch.
