I have a 1993 4.3 mercruiser that the power steering return hose pops a leak at the input to the Oil cooler. I have blown air thur the cooler port. The pump seems to continue to built pressure until the hose from the control valve to the cooler will burst. I have replaced the pump with an automotive pump. I have replace the return hose ( the one with only one fitting). The hose will ether burst some where in the the hose or at the inlet port of the cooler. Could the control valve be the problem.

Update, the problem was the oil cooler, looks like it a froze and collapsed the internal part of the cooler.

Ayuh,.... Find a used 1 on ebay or somewhere,...

Run without it, 'n you'll burn up the rest of the system...

I am having this same problem. I guess I don't quite understand, I can blow air through the cooler so why is the fluid not getting through. I thought maybe my hose was wore out and I took it off and it seems to be just fine ( just keeps getting shorter from cutting it off). So do I need to replace the cooler?

Bowtech: Welcome to the forum! Even though you may be having the same problem....the cause may not be the same. Recommend you start a new thread of your own, with all of your engine/drive info and what you have done so far to troubleshoot (including pics if you have 'em) and you will get the help you need. This thread belongs to reynjogar. ;)
