Re: New to the boats ? need an advice.

Hello
I clicked on a few of your possibles there and I like the looks of the 95 4Winns BUT would you really want to be hauling fish into it?
I think more of a working boat with lots of open room in the back would suit your fishing and diving needs better plus carpet is tuff to clean fish guts out of. Being new to boating the last thing you want is a boat that has engine troubles so one with a good maintenance record is a plus. Some engines are better than others so when you narrow it down a bit more ask here what guys experiences have been. I noticed the price points of under $10,000 which also puts you back in years depending on the boat. Some are better than others and hold their value alot better but even at 10 years + are still good solid boats as long as they have been taken care of.
Outboard? I/O ? will you be trailering the boat? if so make sure you get a good trailer with it and you have a vehicle up to pulling it and all the gear. Of course if you wait a few more weeks til the end of summer you might find a guy looking to unload his boat and get a deal plus you will still be able to test it out before it gets winterised.
Good luck
Todd

The 5th link($4500) and the 8th link($3500) is the same boat.

For what you describe wanting to do (most of the time), I like the 22' Grady White OB walk-a-round the best. That's a configuration of boat that I rather like, and it gives you the ability to go on many bodies of water.

Where do you intend to boat and fish most of the time?

For me, I like the Four Winns and the Crownline best. The Crownline will always be a nice boat. These may not work too well for fishing though. The Grady White is a solid all around boat that will be upgradeable for many years to come. If it is in good shape, go for that one with the trailer.

I'm planing to keep it at marina. Will I be able to use those boats in the ocean or only in the bay area ?
Thanks

I would look at the Grady for what you are looking to do. Best all around out of the choices you listed.

I'm not looking at your list but the best boat for you is an outboard, self bailing deck, deep V (not bay boat). Maybe a walk-around, maybe an open design (center console or dual console). depends on how much cold weather boating you will do; cabins just take up valuable space in the summer.

Buyer beware with buying used fiberglass boats, you may be buying someone else's problems.

All the boats you've listed are prime candidates for potential serious problems like rot and mechanical problems.

If you should find a boat you like, invest the money to have a surveyor inspect it... it'll probably save you money in the long run.
