Hello All,

I am in the process of my 1st ever Boat Restoration. I recently purchased a 1988 Bayliner Bass Thophy 1510 with a 50HP Force motor. The motor is in pretty good shape, just back from shop and got the OK on the motor. The entire Stern of the boat has been removed with basiclly the bare decking exposed and the Bow (although intact) is pretty soft. I think my 1st step in the resto is to get the decking and stern addressed. I have been having some diffuculty finding even a picture of a 1510 in decent condition. I have come across plenty of 1710's, but no 1510's. I am thinking since the 1510 is a little smaller the comparment/seat configurations may differ. If anyone can provide a link to some 1510 pics or a Manual it would be greatly appreciated. I would like to put her back into her original configurations.

I am brand new to the whole process, so any feedback would be appreciated.

Thanks

Re: 1988 Bayliner Bass Trophy1510 Restoration

Hi and welcome to the drydock...

First of all, the guys here are going to ask for pictures, the more the merrier...

Here is a link on how to do it... http://PHOTO Posting Instructions

If there are any soft spots, unfortunately on boats of this age, it will usually indicate a complete replacement of the wooden substructure...Hopefully not the case with your boat, but quite probable...

You need to do a "BIOPSY" of sorts...you need to access the rearmost and lowest points you can get to the transom, stringers and bulkheads...then you need to drill some core samples...If you get nice, clean dry wood shavings...then you have won the boat lottery...if it comes out dark, wet and mushy...well, that's where we come in...

If you end up wanting to take on this project, we will help any way we can with tons of information...

As far as restoring the boat to original condition, that is one of many choices available to you when you decide to restore it...another is to make changes that better suit your needs and fishing style...

I tried searching for images that relate to your particular boat, and these are the only ones I came up with...

If you keep searching through the Internet in places like Ebay, Craigslist, Iboats, etc., etc... for places that sell boats, you may come up with more references from folks trying to sell the same model...

Best of Luck and Happy Boating...
