Try to keep this brief but still give history. 1978 Evinrude 150. A couple weeks ago I went to take boat out and I just got a click when trying to start. Easy enough, I switched to deep cylce batteries and it started. Took the old starting battery back and they said its good but got it replaced anyway. With new battery and charged a few days later it just clicked again. Let sit till this weekend and it turned over with no problem. Didnt mess with anything. That is until I pushed in the key to choke. Now I just get the click again from solenoid when key is turned. Not sure what choke has to do with problem but seemed to cause it. Maybe not but what are some steps I could take to troubleshoot this problem? Thank you.
