so im pretty new to boats just picked up a 73 tahiti hull with what i was told was an 1979 200 hp merc outboard.
but a buddy of mine told me it was a 115. there are no stickers on the covers so i dont know how to tell

its a 6cyl and the serial number is 5364376

any help out be awesome

the motor has a hard time cold starting any tricks or tips?

I'm on my first boat, which is also an outboard merc. It is hard to start the first time of the day sometimes. I have discovered it cranks much better if it is trimmed all the way down. I used to start it trimmed up quite a bit, because in my mind I had to because of the shallow water.
