2002 Nissan 6hp 4 stroke Troubleshooting Help Needed

My old reliable Nissan 6hp will no longer start. Two weeks ago I ran it and it had an intermittent miss so I brought it home and checked the plug which was fine. I ran it a week ago with the miss but after 10 minutes the miss was gone and it ran just fine.

This week it won't start. I found that the fuel filter was totally plugged so I tapped and blew through it and reinstalled it (I know bad idea). I drained the carb bowl and verified that I'm getting fuel that far. I also verified the spark was OK.

I need advice on the next step such as further diagnostics to confirm that the carb is the issue.

Thanks in advance

Clean the carb. You have a 99 out 100 chance that the carb is plugged up.

There is only one way to clean a carburetor. Complete disassembly, a three to four hour soak in carburetor cleaner...Or ultrasound, but since no one has one....Using a spray can of carb cleaner is useless. That stuff is to mild to dissolve anything other than surface deposits.

What Elvin said. Plus, just replace the disposable fuel filter and flush the entire fuel system while you're at it.
