This Motor is on 1988 Grady White Overnighter Since purchased in May I not had much luck getting it to run correctly. I have replaced water pump all but housing which looks OK. Thermostats replaced, have run with and without them in place When running in tank with thermostats out water is coming up to where thermostats would be. Standing outside behind boat
right hand side of motor is hotter than left. ( Infared Gun) Left @ 130* Right @ 200+* Water does not appear to be circulationing strong enough. Alarm is sounding after a few minutes. It also is not idling well at all but haven't really been able to deal with that issue due to the heat issue. Compression tests have been good 105 and even across all cylinders. Any suggestions ? I suspect clogged somewhere not sure how to deal with that.

Re: Overheating issues Yamaha TXRR 1993 2 Stroke

lean burning cylinders will be hotter, so take care of ruff running also.

Probably will need to open it up and clean cooling passages.

Did you test stats to see that they are opening all the way at the proper temp?

Check PRV to make sure it is not sticking open and dumping too much water

Could you explain "open it up and clean cooling passages Thanks

The issue is there with or without Stats but I will check them. Replacing PRV Today
