Have a 76 fiberform boat with the same year 190hp Ford 302 OMC I/0. I don't know the model or serial # as it is not clear on the motor itself. Took the boat out for 10 minutes today. It started, ran for a few and I heard a clunk. It will not start again. Have charged the battery for approxamently 30 minutes, removed a spark plug and it's dry, the crank shaft will not turn, it's full of gas, the prop turns freely in or out of gear, oil levels are all good, temperature was at 160 degrees. I am not sure fully what other info I can provide but we would live some feedback. Thank you.

Re: Is my motor seized?

welcome to iboats.

pull the plugs, then see if the engine turns over by hand. you may have water in the cylinders. if so, pulling the plugs will allow the water to come out.

if not, you may have to pull the drive. if the motor turns then, you have an issue in the drive.

Yup - I'd actually (because I can do it so fast) pull the drive off first, but you can go either way. Your upper gear case on the stern drive is a real good candidate for being seized up too.

Thank you. We are trying this today. Very frustrating. Just bought the boat the night before last.

unfortunately you purchased a boat with an obsolete OMC outdrive. parts are difficult to come by. lets hope its not a seized upper.
