Found the leak. U joint bellows had a tear in the top near the transom. When trying to order parts from iboats, the rep was not sure if the parts were what I needed. Now, I am confused. I was looking at a Mallory bellows #9-72701 and an outdrive gasket set sierra# 18-2614. My boat information is:

Motor serial # A475184
Stern Drive # A471100
Transom assy# A453976

This is considered as an Alpha 1 drive? If someone could let me know for sure if these parts would work, I would appreciate it. Partially disassembled in the garage right now.

It's a 1986 drive (1.84 gear ratio) and yes it's considered an Alpha I.

PS. Get the Sierra bellows, not Mallory.

Thanks Don. Got the parts ordered from iboats. Should be here Monday or Tuesday. Hope the hinge pins come out easy.

Are you sure you need to pull the hinge pins to change the bellows?

Ayuh,.... I've heard of fools not pullin' 'em, 'n fightin' it together,...

I find it Way Easier to do it the Right way,....
A 1/2" allen key, 'n abit of Heat has always worked for Me...

The 1/2" allen key worked perfectly! I can't imagine how anyone could replace any of the bellows properly without removing the hinge pins!! Cleaned everything up and will install new parts tomorrow. It is relatively easy if you do it the right way.

Hey sambluckie, make sure you put the bellows clamps on as the manual says or they will be near impossible to tighten. Use the bellows adhesive too, it matters.
