How do I remove the tilt motor worm gear shaft to replace it?

Tilt shaft broke on the end at the hammer blow coupling. coupling is fine got replacement shaft I can't figure how to get the old one out.I took the motor out and I removed clutch pack, I still can't get to it because the big gear that is driven by the worm gear won't come out. I took the C clip off the cover on the intermediate housing at the end of the shaft but that cover didn't budge either. Anyone got any ideas?

Hit the brass gear like this and it will fire the round disc out the back (there is only an oring holding it once the plate is off)
