I have inherited a 1986 Hurricane with a 150 hp v6 mecury outboard. i have yet been able to find a serial number on this thing so i am not sure what year the motor is. Regardless, i woudl like to bring it to the shop and get it looked at, but i cant get the motor up... The tilt pump says to turn the handles one complete turn, but there are not handles. The trim pump is mounted inside the boat near the battery. Please help, this is so frustrating...wish i knew something about boats.

There was a couple of different PTT models about that time frame. A picture will help. Some of the PTT pumps that were mounted in the boat had a knurled knob on the control valve (very bottom of PTT reseverior). Turning this CW would release the PTT, allowing a strong person to tilt the motor up by hand.

That is an early V6 PTT model I think. It says it has a knob to turn. If not, crack open the down hydraulic hose and let the oil spray out as you lift the motor by hand.
