Not quite sure what I screwed up.....

Rebuilt the carbs, put it on the muffs....Fired right up. Ran it about 2 minutes and the alarm went off. Set the idle screw at the factory spec (1 1/8 turn out) so I know its not running lean. If anything, I'm running rich cause shes smoking more than it did.

I did drop a bolt down the leg and had to remove that... Had to use a rubber mallet to get the leg seated again.

Is it possible that I knocked the water pick up tube loose while banging on it?

Its an 88...85hp

Sounds more like the muffs weren't on right.
It'd be awful hard to knock the tube loose.
How old is the impeller?
Try taping the muffs on?

Did you see water exiting from the snout at all? If not, you can either try the muffs on again but if the problem persists it's time to drop the LU unit again and inspect.

Thanks for the info gents.
Went out this evening and filled up the 94Q cooler and stuck it in there.

Ran it about 15 minutes with no alarms!

Was looking at the garden hose (its on a reel) and there was a kink in it so I think that's the source of my problem last night.

Going to give it a sea trial tomorrow and see how it does.... I've got my fingers crossed!

Sea trial? Oh yes, those days before the real underway! You should do good considering you did well with the tub.
