Ok let me start out by saying I am new to the boat world and just baught my first boat a the start of summer. I have a 2000 Tahoe Q7 with a 7.4L MPI Mercruiser I/O. Bravo 3 outdrive with a 21 pitch prop. The throttle control is a Mercury 3000 Classic.
Hope this covers all the specs needed.
Here is my problem. When i first start out, I can hammer it down and get to the peak 4600 rpm. When i cruise it does not seem to want to get over 3000 rpm in calm water. If i play with the trim a bit i can get a few more rpm's and speed but not much.
When cruising i have noticed that i can push the throttle down 3/4 of the way and get plenty of response from the motor the last 1/4 i get nothing.
Also i have the whistle at about 1500 to 2000 rpm that seems to be a common problem with these engines. I will be checking vacuum hoses and the flame arrestor (the things that seem to be causing the whistle). Is there anything else that i need to check or are those most likely casuing my problem?
Thanks in advance.
