Re: bilge pump testing

To test whether it is getting power, you can turn on the Bilge Pump switch. To test whether the automatic float works AND/OR that the pump is actually pumping water, throw some water in the bilge.

If on a trailer, raise the bow slightly.

Start adding water to the most forward compartment that accesses the keel.
It should all connect and flow to the stern bilge area.
If it doesn't, find the blockage!
5-10 gallons later the bilge pump should come on and remove most but not all of it.
Do not expect the pump to start until you have 2-3 inches of water at the pump.

It is a good idea to do this at least once a year.
