1976 mercrusier engine 140 hp wont turn over

Hello There

I have a 1981 larson boat with a 1976 mercrusier or omc 140 hp will not turn over.. Heres the story,, about a month ago was trying 2 get it running turned over just fine just no spark so i just went and bought new coil cap rotor and wires.. so i go ahead and put them on this week get everything hooked up i get nothing but a clunk starter engages but motor wont turn.. have tried 2 turn motor over manually but no success.. is there anything that will stop the motor from turning over besides it be locked up which i find hard 2 believe since a month ago was fine.. so any suggestions.. thanks

Pull the spark plugs out and see if you have water in the cylinders. If it still won't turn over by hand, remove the outdrive. If it still won't turn over by hand the engine is locked up.

is ther anything that will stop motor from turning over besides being locked up

yes, like don s said, water in the cylinders or a frozen drive.

Could also be a frozen starter.
