Hi guys
first time on here! I have just bought a small rib with a 25hp 1989 evinrude fitted, it has not run for some time, but manged to get it started just, it was a pig to start and then wont tick over well, and when reved mis-fires, I changed the plugs as the electrodes were pretty worn. reading on here I guess the carb needed cleaning. However taking it to bits it looks very clean as if the previous owner has thought the same. However removing the float chamber and looking at the float the plate above has two "airways" either side one is blocked by a plug and the other is open and looks like it should have a plug fitted, it almost looks like the casing has been scratched by someone trying to remove the plug.
