ive got a 115hp mercury "tower of power" and the year is the late 70s its sat for years and whith the throttle all the way down it only goes 10mph. we ran it for 45mins and still no improvment. what would the effects be if the water pump was not working? any ideas would be helpfull thanks!

If you ran it that long with out pumping water it could have over heated and stuck some things.

Do a compression test and verify spark, if you have both clean the carbs before you run it again put in a new impeller.
