I'm working on a 1954 10hp Johnson. It will start and run ok at first but the RPM's will go up and down and eventually stall. I took the cover off and notice gas dripping out the carb had a milky look to it. Thinking the gas might be bad I tried it on a different motor and it ran fine. I cleaned out the carb and took a air hose to it and blew it all out. Put it back on the motor but it did the same thing. What would cause this?

sounds like you need to do a carb kit/cleaning with a float for starters. gas shouldnt drip from the carb. the up and down rpm's sounds like it could be an air leak somewhere. are you using a pressure tank or has the motor been converted?

I'm using a pressure tank. Sounds like I have a couple of issues . Does the connector where the tank plugs into go bad? Trying to think where I would have an air leak.
