Need spark plug help

I am replacing my spark plugs and have a question. Motor is a 1980 Chrysler 85. My Seloc manual calls for Champion L20V with no gap noted in specs. When I pulled the plugs in there now they are L76V gapless. They were black and oily. The Champion website calls for L82C which I believe are standard gapped plugs.

Questions are, which plugs should I use? If I use the L82C do I just use the gap they are pre set too?

Also, I know Champions heat range increases with higher numbers. Manual L20- Current L76- website L82. This seems like quite a jump?

Thanks!

Re: Need spark plug help

I pretty much stick to Champion L20-V's or NGK-BUH's. Haven't noticed any performance differences, fwiw..

L76 is a Mercury plug and Merc used them in later model Force engines with Merc ignitions. L20V UL18V BUHX or BUHW are all acceptable plugs.

Do not use a bent electrode plug. They are hotter and you do run the risk of piston damage
