boat will not start. replaced selenoid, changed spark plugs, mechanic tested stater and said it was good, replaced battery. the starter does engage but will not turn the flywheel. It sounds like the battery is week but it is new and has been fully charged. Yesterday I replaced the selenoid, the boat did start one time but would not start again. what should I check next?

All associated connections. Looking ok is not good enough. Take them apart, clean them and then put them back.

I believe the starter mount to the engine is a ground. Loosen those bolts, wiggle it around and retighten. Try that. If it works ,clean that connection.Edit: per previous post, associated connections included grounds.

Pics are from a GOOD starter.
Guy couldn't understand why it wouldn't turn the motor??
15year old starter???Take it apart and check for crap/corrosion.
Remove the plugs and see if it turns over??
Then do a compression test.

Still trouble turning over? Drop the lower unit and try again.

Thanks. All electrical connections clean. About the starter, i cleaned it but cant get it back together....any tricks to the springs. It is the original starter but i had it tested and the mechanic said it was good.
