I am new to the forum and I must say what I have read so far is fantastic.

I was helping a friend with his Mercruiser EFI engine as it would not start. The problem turned out to be bad gas gunked up the needle valve in the VST tank and would not allow any fuel through. I cleaned up the valve, put everything back together and she started right up. She ran for 1 hour and 40 minutes with no issue. The next week he started it up, she ran 5 minutes and crapped out with no fuel. The needle valve in the VST tank clogged up again. So I took it all apart again and really cleaned everyting up, drained a few gallons of old fuel out, out it all back together again and she started right up. One problem, I saw fuel spurting out of the side of the VST tank as the o-ring did not seal right. Long story short, I fixed that issue and now I cannot get her to start. She is getting fuel (although old) and the EFI is spraying nicely. However no ignition. I even tried the either bunny and nothing. I checked the spark on one cylinder with a new plug and the spark appeared weak to me. I am not sure whay I could have done when I put the VST back in the last time to cause the spark to weaken. I know something else might have went but that would be a strange coincidence. Any suggestions from anyone?

BTW, the engine has the ignition module in the distributor. No points.

Must have a Mercruiser serial number for your engine to even come close to identifying what your working on.

Thanks for the response Don. I have attached a picture of the flame arrestor cover that has the serial number and engine specifications. Thanks for your help. In case the upload does not work, the serial number is 0F803801.
