Hello - Once a year my family goes to a lake at 6500 feet, and I have a hard time starting the boat. The only way I get it to start the first time is to pull the air filter, and cover the intake with my hand while my wife cranks it over.

I don't care so much about power once started, but is there is something easy (easier than pulling the air filter) I can do to make it start easier? The lake is fairly isolated so a dead battery could be bad news.

Thanks

With the flame arrestor off, and the engine cold. Open the throttle about 1/8th. Does the choke plate close? If not, adjust it to close and give it a try.

Looks like it is closing pretty well - 2012-07-16_19-20-34_220.jpg
