Need an antique boat towed to Florida

I am trying to find a reasonable quote for towing a 1957 13' Aluminum boat, on a trailer with a 17/8" ball, from New London MO to Ocala FL so that I can restore the boat and original 35HP Johnson outboard to its original condition. Does anyone have any information on somebody who could tow it to Florida for a reasonable cost?

I can't imagine getting this done for less than $600, unless you can find someone that is going that way.

And I wouldn't do it for less than $300 even if it was on my route.
Just too much risk and potential for disaster and liability.

Can you vouch for the integrity of the trailer?

I am ahaving the Lights checked, the bearings checked and greased, and the tires replaced with new ones. My son in law is checking everyhing for me. Could you gey it closer to me? I would drive up to meet with you.

If you are going to hire someone, figure 2 days wages, wear and tear and vehicle expenses, and $300+ in fuel costs.

Might be cheaper to just rent a big 'ol UHAUL moving truck and put the whole thing in the back on the trailer and dive it down. You could even tow your car behind the moving truck. Either way, it's a lot of expense and effort for a little 13' boat and motor. I'm near Ocala, and there are boats galore and C-list deals popping up all the time. It may easier to just buy a project boat and/or motor. Boats are like mailboxes down here. Everybody's got one (at least). Chances are your neighbor will have one in their yard and sell it to you cheap.

i live in iowa and have a house in orlando fl. i wouldnt mind doing it. id charge you the cost of gas plus 350. ive done the trip many times over the years, its exactly a 24 hour drive for me each way. i had my 96 chevy c1500 ext cab shipped down( second truck) and it cost me $1900 for a shipping company to ship it. that was the best quote i got. highest i got was 3100 for a weekend delivery 2 day time window. i was like uhh heck no. so 1900 dollars and 2 weeks later my truck shows up at the new house in iowa. not to include the huge scratch from the dumb butt placing a strap across the bed of my truck. i later found out they had 4 55 gallon drums of oil in the bed of my truck. i was explained that the company wasnt at fault because they never told him to load stuff in my truck yet the drive said they did. i was pissed. luck for me i know how to paint. so i just painted the bed and said never again.

just my warning. be carefull shipping things with moving companies. not that all them are bad but the cheapest is not always the best.
