Hi, I'm fairly new to boating and have a few questions concerning autopilots. The area i'll be mostly boating in is on the east coast of Puerto Rico with normal swells around 3-5ft when I'm steering sometimes i have to go around some of them . My question is is this too much for a pilot? i mean would it be able to keep me on course or i can only use it in calm conditions. I own formula 27pc and considering si-tex sp80.
Also, How do you install an RFU on a stern drive boat? The instructions say that the rudder pivot point and RFU should be in the same plane but mercruiser stern drives pivot outside the transom.
