Greetings.

Does anyone have any tips for removing the black rubber mat that is glued to the rear of a Yamaha waverunner? I am replacing mine and was wondering what solvent to use to get the residual adhesive off the deck prior to replacing with a new one. Any tips or things to avoid would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Thanks for the reply. The new rubber mat has a tacky back that I assume you just lay on a clean deck? Or do you add additional adhesive? I guess the adhesive on the new pad is good stuff, just doesnt seem like alot.

Thanks,

You can get the mats either way. IMO far better to get the ones with the adhesive already applied. It gets real messy applying the adhesive yourself. Most of them use a 3M product that is pressure activated, and it is very sticky. Be sure you get the mat exactly where you want it before you pull the backing...........you will not get a second chance.

If you're careful, Acetone will take it off, but don't use too much or you'll be taking off finish too.
Soapy water and a plastic bristle brush is usually the safest way.
